Yes, I, Ethan Carey, am a ‘Boomer,’ and I’m proud of it. I was born on February 26, 1951, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Shortly after, my mother Betty and my father James moved us to the Village of Fairport, New York, a suburb of Rochester.
I decided to write this article as I reflected on my life in Fairport, New York, where I grew up in a neighborhood where most of the houses were very similar and were built near the end of the Korean War in the early 1950s.
It was a simpler time to be sure. But then, there was no internet, no video games, only three channels to choose from, no cell phones, and no TV remotes. Can you even imagine? I invite you into parts of my world, the Boomer generation while growing up.
