Daniel Williams has been named president of EW Howell Construction Group as part of a just-announced transition in the firm’s leadership.
Williams, who assumed the post on April 1, will maintain his role as the company’s chief financial officer while taking over day-to-day operations, according to a company statement.
Howard Rowland, who has served as EW Howell’s president and chief operating officer, becomes its new chief executive officer. Rowland plans to become the firm’s chairman at the end of 2023.
Rowland joined Plainview-based EW Howell in 1983 as project manager and ascended to become president of the firm in 1997. Williams has been with EW Howell for 15 years, joining in 2007 as the firm’s controller, becoming its CFO in 2016.
“After thorough review and assessment, I have made the decision to step into a new role as chief executive officer at EW Howell,” Rowland said in the statement. “I have the utmost confidence in Dan as a leader with his even-keel demeanor and seasoned understanding of the company and its future vision. I will be working closely with Dan along with other senior executives to provide support, guidance, and advice during this transition.”
In addition, John Hagen assumes the role of interim COO. Hagen, currently an EW Howell executive vice president with more than 40 years of senior construction leadership experience, will oversee all of the company’s construction operations.
