Blanton has done a nice job filling in for Higbee. 4 catches for 49 yards so far.

That flea flicker screen looked like it was going to be blown up at first but Blanton turned it into a big gain. The Rams need to finish this drive out with a touchdown.
Pinned
And that was because Matthew Stafford and the offense were just plain slow getting out of the huddle after Cooper Kupp’s first-down catch. Inexcusable, really, at this stage.
Pinned
The Rams having to use their second timeout with 19 seconds left in the third quarter is really bad. Yikes.
Pinned
Kind of an odd taunting penalty there on Azeez Al-Shaair, who looked more guilty of a late hit on Cooper Kupp than excessive celebration. But it gives the Rams a free first down. L.A. badly needs a solid drive that ends in points here.
Pinned
49ers just burned through clock on the TD drive, too. Just under two minutes to go in the third quarter, and San Francisco now has a relatively comfortable 17-7 lead. It’s time for the Rams’ big names to step up on the other side.
Pinned
And now it’s George Kittle. Full extension on the TD catch. Blown coverage, it would seem.
Pinned
What an effort by Jauan Jennings. Caught that pass 2-3 yards short of the line to gain and just fought his way there.
Pinned
Just incredible toughness after the catch by Deebo Samuel. 49ers go with the screen on second-and-11, and he just blows through Troy Reeder and a few other guys to move the sticks. Samuel clearly the MVP for San Francisco’s offense thus far.
Pinned
Very well-designed play right there. The 49ers came out with a fullback, two tight ends, and Deebo Samuel and Travis Benjamin. Quick smoke screen to Deebo away from the tight ends and fullback, and he picks up a first down.
Pinned
That’s the third time Brandon Aiyuk has beaten Darious Williams. All of them pretty big plays. Niners are in business in opponent territory now.
Pinned
Troy Reeder had a shot to take Deebo down in the backfield but he just got run over. Sets up third-and-medium for SF.
Pinned
This would be a pretty bad challenge if Sean McVay does it. There’s no way this is getting overturned.
Pinned
It didn’t look to me like Stafford got to the line to gain. The official’s foot looked like he was spotting a first down, but then he put the ball down short of it. I think Stafford is gonna be short.
Pinned
That played looked doomed from the start for the Rams. Niners bunched inside to take away the QB sneak and Stafford didn’t get the snap cleanly to throw the ball to Kupp on the speed out.
Pinned
Kendall Blanton is the only active TE left for the Rams. They won’t be able to go to any of their 12 personnel looks, though they might utilize Skowronek or Kupp as TE-esque players on run plays.
Pinned
Rams tight end Tyler Higbee, meanwhile, has been downgraded to OUT with a knee injury. Really needed help to get off the field early. That means L.A. is officially down to one tight end for the remainder of the matchup.
Pinned
K’Waun Williams down for the 49ers. Big loss, if he stays out, for San Francisco. Appeared to slip and then get blocked down on the last play. Has a big role in the Niners’ secondary.
Pinned
It sure looked like Garoppolo was in the grasp in the backfield on that last play, but the officials let play continue and he was able to throw it away. Keeps the Niners in a gettable third-down situation… but his pass for a wide-open George Kittle is tipped and incomplete.
Pinned
Mitchell has only 13 yards on his five carries but he’s done a good job in the passing game when given opportunities.
Pinned
Greg Gaines giving the 49ers a free first down when he’s lined up right over the ball is not great. Looked like Gaines tried to jump the silent count but the Niners were not snapping on one.
Pinned
Now Jalen Ramsey gives the Niners a free first down. Illegal contact on the double-move from Brandon Aiyuk.
Pinned
The 49ers put Deebo back to return the second-half kickoff last game and he came up with a huge return. This week, not so much. And he got hit very hard again, after taking the big hit toward the end of the first half.
Pinned
Jalen Ramsey with a few words for Robbie Gould after the field goal to end the first half. Rams may have moved the ball a little better, posting 14 first downs to San Francisco’s six, but that red-zone turnover was a killer. Matthew Stafford has generally been a little off the mark, too, thanks in large part to the 49ers’ pressure. Star power is still in L.A.’s favor, but this was always gonna be a test of physicality, too.
Pinned
The Niners love these in-breaking routes. A couple big plays on this drive, first from Kittle and now from Aiyuk.
Pinned
Angle route for George Kittle, who gets his first catch of the game to pick up the third-down conversion. And luckily for the Niners, it looks like Deebo is OK after Jimmy G hung him out to dry.
Pinned
Nick Scott had a huge game last week and just leveled Deebo Samuel over the middle. That looked like a pretty clean hit. Scott drew a flag at first but the refs picked it up. Deebo is still down on the ground, though.
Pinned
Stafford is getting knocked around quite a bit in the pocket. He had to throw that pass to Odell a bit early and left it too far outside.
Pinned
This is the opposite of how the Rams-Niners games went in the regular season, for the most part. Worth watching the 49ers DL to see if they start getting tired.
Pinned
The Rams went hurry-up after the third-down conversion and got Ben Skowronek wide open on a seam route but he dropped the pass. Skowronek was on the field instead of Odell Beckham because they went hurry-up.
