Countries are still restricting movements a year into the global COVID-19 pandemic, with some borders closed and airlines running reduced schedules. Finder originally ran this survey in 19 countries, so far surveying 224,371 people to find out how the restrictions affect residents’ plans to travel domestically or internationally in the following months. From June going forward, the survey is only looking at travel sentiment in 12 of those countries.
Finder’s November Travel Index reveals that 38.8% of Indians say they plan to travel in the next three months, down from 47.5% in October.
Domestic
Interest in domestic travel is falling compared to the previous survey, with Indians planning a vacation in the coming three months going from 36.8% when asked during the October survey and now sits at 28.8% following the results of the November survey.
International
In November, 14.2% of Indian adults said they have plans to travel abroad in the coming three months, down from 17.9% when asked in October.
More Indian men than women plan to travel
More Indian men than women say they plan to travel in the coming three months, with 40.8% of men saying they plan to travel compared to 34% of women.
How the rest of the world compares to India
Following the November survey, 38.8% of Indians surveyed say they will travel either domestically or internationally in the coming December, January or February. This percentage is down from 47.5% in the October survey. When asked in September that number was 35.6% of Indians saying they had travel plans.
Many Malaysians also have an appetite for travel, with 37.8% saying they have travel plans in the coming three months. When asked in October, 35.7% said they were travelling in the coming three months and 34.5% when asked in September.
A great number of South Africans are also planning a trip in the coming three months, with 35.2% saying they plan to travel in the coming three months in November, compared to 28.4% in October and 27.5% in September.
At the other end of the spectrum are Australians who have the lowest number of people planning trips, with only 20.5% planning travel in the coming three months, following 15.6% in October and 14.5% in September.

As far as the genders go, the highest percentage of men planning travel in the coming three months is in Malaysia (41.2%), with the highest percentage of women booking travel coming from India (34%).
Domestic travel in the next three months
Many Indians have plans to see their homeland, with 28.8% of residents saying they plan to travel in the coming three months following the November survey, down from the 36.8% who said the same in our October survey.
Planning a trip too far ahead of time may be a thing of the past. In the majority of countries, plans for travel is at its highest in the month immediately following the survey.
International travel in the next three months
Irish people lead the way as far as international travel is concerned, with 21.9% saying they plan to travel abroad, followed by Singaporeans (20.6%) and Indians (14.2%).
International travel still lags across the board with most countries with only an average of 12.7% planning trips abroad compared to an average of 18.5% saying they’ll be travelling domestically.
