WARREN — Wayne Harry Lenhart, 89, of Champion and formerly of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life at 11:30 a.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2021, at Windsor House at O’Brien Healthcare Center in Masury.
He was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Warren, the son of the late Anthony and Gertrude McAdoo Lenhart and was a lifelong area resident.
A 1950 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Wayne was a veteran of the Naval Reserve for 12 years, where he was an airplane mechanic and instructor.
He retired in 1982, after working for 33 years with Republic Steel as a general foreman in the blooming mill. In retirement, Wayne ran his small machine shop.
Wayne enjoyed entertaining family and friends at his home. He loved golfing, camping and playing cards. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and watching Cleveland baseball. Wayne was proud to have built two homes on Kibler-Toot Road in Warren Township and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others in need.
He was a member of SS. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Warren.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Lois D. Goffin, whom he married Oct. 17, 1953; two children, Ross (Gayle) Lenhart of Champion and Dorothy Lenhart of Howland; three grandchildren, Tony (Maggie) of Niles, Brian (Susan) of Champion and Scott (Chelsea) Lenhart of Eatonville, Wash.; eight great-grandchildren, Sophia, Anthony and Grayce, Eliana, Cameron, Natallie, Calvin and Abigail; and two sisters, Glenna Robinson of Champion and Carol Jean Tarleton of Cortland.
Besides his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Richard Lenhart; three brothers, Kenneth, Donald Lee and William Lenhart; and by a sister, Donnah Waechter.
Family will receive friends form 9 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at the church.
A memorial Mass will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday, at SS. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, 232 Seneca St., Warren, with the Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating.
Inurnment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Warren.
